History at The Oakwood Academy is a popular and dynamic subject which will encourage you to be reflective and think critically. Students will learn how past events have shaped our community, nation and the world today.
At Key Stage 3, all of our students carry out a wide range of enquiries over a very broad chronological range.
Students in Year 7 will study the rise of the Roman Empire, how the Normans shaped Britain, about life in the Medieval times and the influence the Monarchy had on Medieval society.
Students in Year 8 study the Tudors, the Stuarts, Cromwell and the English Civil War. They will also look into how slavery developed and eventually became outlawed and then study how the Industrial Revolution came into being and its impact on British society.
