Primarily the team teach in three dedicated ICT suites which consist of modern desktop equipment and benefit from being able to use an interactive whiteboard to allow students to engage more in lessons.
At Key Stage 4, students will study AQA Business and Communication Systems which combines Business and IT. This course offers Students the opportunity to look into the structure and running of a business with further understanding of how ICT is used in and around businesses. Students research topics which include human resources, marketing and communication. The course consists of three units.
In GCSE Business Communication Systems all three units are mandatory. Unit 8 ICT Systems in Business is externally assessed in the form of a 60 minute, 60 marks written paper, which has a 40% weighting in the overall course. Unit 9 Using ICT in Business is also externally assessed in the form of a 1 hour and 30 minute practical exam paper worth 60 marks and an overall course weighting of 35%. Unit 10 Investigating ICT in Business is internally assessed through a piece of controlled assessment worth 40 marks and a course weighting of 25%.
Students have a range of options after GCSE for example A Level Business or ICT, or vocational courses.
