Course Title – OCR Certificate in Health and Social Care

The course is GCSE qualification that will provide the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare students for employment in the Health and Social care industry. The course has 4 units which cover the exploration of the Health and Social Care focusing on stages of physical growth and intellectual / social / emotional development and also examining the needs of client groups, access and barriers to health and social care provision and work roles in the industry.

This qualification will allow students to study a range of subject areas that are listed below:

  • Essential values of care.
  • Communicating and working with individuals.
  • Creative activities to support individuals.
  • Understanding the development and protection of young children.


The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care is a practical, work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments; visiting a variety of work places and early years settings and by investigating real life scenarios and case studies.

CACHE Children’s Care, Learning and Development

NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care

Possible career paths within this sector could include nurse, social worker, nursery nurse, classroom assistant, pharmacy technician and laboratory technician.

Period 6 is usually on Tuesdays from 3pm to 4pm.
